]]> http://www.wnybullseye.com/?feed=rss2&p=546 0 New York Gun Bills http://www.wnybullseye.com/?p=238 http://www.wnybullseye.com/?p=238#comments Wed, 01 Jul 2009 19:49:07 +0000 catmandu http://www.wnybullseye.com/?p=238 NEW YORK:  Anti-Gun Bill Held in Committee  This week, Senate Bill 1069, introduced by State Senator Carl Kruger (D-27) was held in the Senate Codes Committee.  S1069 will give the State Police broad authority to outlaw firearms based what they look like, how they are assembled, the materials they are made with and whether they are “readily” detectable by “standard security equipment.”   The bill (as well as its companion, Assembly Bill 4057) does not provide a definition of “standard security equipment” and does not contain any testing procedures, thus allowing the Superintendent of the State Police the sole discretion to arbitrarily decide which guns should be banned.  This could have major implications for the availability of all types of firearms in New York State.  We will keep you posted if there is any further activity on S1069/A4057.  We encourage our members to please call your lawmakers TODAY and urge them to oppose S1069/A4057.  State Assembly Members can be reached by phone at (518) 455-4100.   Your State Senator can be contacted through the Senate switchboard at (518) 455-2800. 

 

Anti-Freedom Bill Pending Action in Albany  Introduced recently was Senate Bill 1598, sponsored by State Senator Eric Schneiderman (D-31).  This legislation targets law-abiding pistol license holders by requiring licenses be renewed every five years and would mandate that all applicants outside New York City complete training and a test before a license may be issued.  Please call your lawmakers TODAY and urge them to oppose S1589/A801.  State Assembly Members can be reached by phone at (518) 455-4100.    Your State Senator can be contacted through the Senate switchboard at (518) 455-2800.

The purpose of this site is to provide handgun shooters in Western New York a place to share information about local and regional Bullseye / NRA Conventional Pistol shooting.

Upcoming Organized Leagues:   

Western New York Outdoor Pistol League  -  Outdoor NRA conventional Rimfire & Centerfire league fired on Sunday Mornings starting May 6th and running until October 10th.  A complete schedule is posted on the WNYOPL Shooting schedule page on the right hand side of the page. Range locations and sign up information included.

Alden Air Pistol League  -  International Air Pistol Competition fired at Alden Rod & Gun Club starting Tuesday May 8th, running through July 31st, on  Tuesday nights.  First relay will start at 7:15pm, others to follow as needed.  Course of fire will be the 40 round International short course, fired at 10 meters.  Match fees are $5.00 per score.  An end of season Steak Roast / Awards Party follows the season and is paid for from the match fees for each shooter completing the season.  For more information please contact Carl Leas @ carlpride@msn.com.
